I’ve been thinking a lot about iconic buildings in the United States that have made an impression on me since I moved here from New Zealand. I have always loved Independence Hall in Philadelphia. Independence Hall is a Georgian style structure built for the purpose of becoming the Pennsylvania State House. While building began in 1732, the building went under construction several times — and in the 1750s, a bell tower was added. That that bell would eventually be known as the Liberty Bell (which can be seen across the street now).

The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were born in Independence Hall, and it is magical to stroll through its halls, knowing you’re walking in the footsteps of Benjamin Franklin and the other Founding Fathers. I wanted to pay homage to the invaluable American building by memorializing it with my paintbrush!
