I was compelled to create this Arts and Crafts style art piece after a visit to the campus and a wonderful stay at the Roycroft Inn.
I was compelled to create this Arts and Crafts style art piece after a visit to the campus and a wonderful stay at the Roycroft Inn. Under the leadership of one of the American Arts and Crafts founders, Elbert Hubbard, the campus began construction in 1895. Nestled in the city of East Aurora, New York, Roycroft Campus is the best preserved and most complete set of buildings remaining in the United States of the “guilds” that evolved as centers of craftsmanship and philosophy during the late 19th century. This painting depicts the old Copper Shop at Roycroft Campus which today serves as a gift store.
