A bit about the building: construction began on the Capitol in 1793, but the structure has been built, burnt, reconstructed and extended over the years. It has a neoclassical design style, which pays homage to Ancient Greece and Rome. Ironically — its most identifiable feature — the iconic Rotunda — wasn’t completed for many years after the building was put to use. It has over 600 rooms and is said to cover over 1.5 million square feet.
